A Study on the Research Trend of Art Therapy Using Korean Painting Materials

Abstract

|
This study was to analyze the research trend in Art Therapy using the Korean Painting Materials to provide basic data on how to utilize the Korean Painting Materials. First, A total of 40 domestic academic papers and academic journals were analyzed from 2001 to March 2018. The research and analysis result showed that the study of Art Therapy using the Korean Painting Materials consisted mainly of integrated research. Second, in general groups, research was conducted mainly on a variety of characteristics in childhood, and in most old age, studies conducted on diagnostic groups such as dementia and brain damage. There were also more group studies than there were individual studies. Third, as a result of the analysis of treatment goals, sociality enhancement was the most studied, followed by mental health recovery and self-growth. Fourth, when looking at the degree of use of each type of media, Hanji, Oriental painting brush, ink, and Korean color were used a lot. Various media such as gold flour, silver flour, and backing paper were used in the tools, but the frequency of use was low. Fifth, the activities in therapies was presented in order of creation, media discovery and mandala, with the highest percentage of drawing activity. In conclusion, Art Therapy using the Korean Media is effective in solving the problem if deterrents, but the research method has been limited so far so that it can be effective through various verification methods.
